Hanging Ab Straps with Integral Handles
Leg raises and knee raises with your arms in ab slings, aka hanging ab straps, are an excellent way to develop abdominal muscles. Hang them on any pull up bar and start your set. The biggest drawback to this approach is that you are literally just hanging, so its easy for your body to start swinging when your legs are raised numerous times during your set. The “gold standard” for leg raises is for them to be performed on a captain’s chair found at many gyms, however, this device has limited functionality (typically leg raises and dips), and most home gym owners can’t justify the expense, and more importantly, use of precious space in the area allocated in your home for gym equipment. We think there’s a better way.
The FitBar FP-6.2 Hanging Ab Straps takes the standard ab slings one step further with the addition of integrated handles. These handles allow the user to use their forearms to lock in the upper body, similar to leg raises in a captain’s chair, and force the core to stabilize the body / reduce swinging. This results in more effort expended by the ab muscles for the leg raises and a more efficient workout.
For more advanced users who like to add a twist to their leg raises or knee raises and this work their abdominal oblique muscles, the FP-6.2 provides an advantage over standard ab straps. The handle adds a means for the upper body to react the twist of the core, providing for a more stable leg raise without swing. Hanging leg raises with a twist are the ultimate in core work stomach muscle workouts on a pull up bar.
To use the FP-6.2 Hanging Ab Strap Handles, we recommend using a stool so you can easily get your arms into the slings and your hands on the handles. This is common practice with traditional pull up bar ab slings. If you don’t have a stool, we recommend you get one arm in the sling and hand on the handle, and then proceed to the other arm (i.e. if you are right handed, get the right arm into the right ab strap, and right hand into the right handle, then proceed to the left).
The slings on the FP-6.2 are constructed from high-quality nylon. The S hooks, which fits bars up to 1.5” is zinc plated and can be quickly installed and removed. The handles feature high-quality foam over a steel tube, and premium rope. Best of all, this product is fabricated and assembled here in the US with US materials.
