Ninja Obstacle Training Tools

Ninja gyms have been popping up everywhere. There are many ninjas that have lots of experience and are sharing their experiences with others. We recommend you learn as much as you can from these experienced ninjas, like Jon Brown. Additionally, there are fitness programs that are ninja-themed or help prepare for obstacles. We provide many of the training tools used by obstacle warriors to sharpen their skills. The new SG ninja obstacle product line makes for excellent training equipment, and are starting to be used in ninja competitions across the US.

We have partnered with USA Ninja Challenge, a ninja gym chain with 19 facilities in New England, Colorado, Texas, and a number of other states. Our equipment has been programmed into their facility so you can train on FitBar equipment at a complete ninja gym. They offer ninja classes, open gym, as well as Ultimate Ninja Athlete Association (UNAA) ninja competitions.

If you don’t have access to a ninja or obstacle course gym, the next best thing is train at home, both obstacle skills and overall strength. The fitness regimen should of course include upper body training, and we recommend using the hooked grip holds (Ball Grips, Minicane Pinch Grips, and the Neutral Grips) when doing pull ups. Another thing you should not overlook is developing core strength, we recommend leg raises while hanging from the grips, working both your core and grip strength. Finally, don’t forget training for balance. Many very strong ninjas who excelled at the hanging obstacles fail on the deceptively simple balance obstacles on the popular TV show.

We also recommend building a cannonball alley type obstacle with the eyebolted grips, provided you have access to monkey bars. Mix them up so you are comfortable with the different grip types. We just added the Dog Bone Grip and the Ninja Tee Grip. These add fun and interesting variation to your ninja obstacle course. Check out the video below for an overview of the ninja holds that you can use for your training.

For more advanced obstacle warriors, performing transfers with hooked grips in hands is a great way to work on your hand-eye coordination, developing precise movements. Securing eyebolts into an overhead structure is a good way to practice these moves. Even more advanced is performing moves like Salmon Ladder transfers with the hooked grips.
