Lat Pulldown Cable Pulley

Lat pull down cable

The FitBar strength product line includes the FP-3 Lat Pulldown Cable Pulley Attachment. This is by far the best alternative to a cable pulley machine on the market. The pulley utilizes a high-quality needle bearing for ultra-smooth operation. The pulley assembly attaches directly to any 1.5” or smaller bar, minimizing the unwanted swinging of the weight plates from other cable pulley alternatives. Included with the Lat Pulldown Cable Pulley Attachment is a pair of our highly-rated heavy-duty Pull Up Handles. Each handle has a 200 lb capacity, has a comfortable high-quality foam grip, and includes S hooks so you can also use them as pull up handles when not using the cable pulley attachment. The FP-3 is rated for 400 lbs when using both pull up handles and the provided chain.

The lat pulldown cable itself is a high-quality, US-made rope that has a 2000 lb breaking strength. Each end is finished with steel thimbles to protect the rope and allow for easy attachment to the weight plates and lat pull down bar, triceps rope, or other cable machine attachment. The pulldown cable is 72” loop-to loop, so you have plenty of active rope. The cable pulley attachment can be used on any pull up bar, and is ideal for pull up bars or squat racks that are 84” to 96” high, however, you can really use it with any pull up bar height - the lower the bar the farther you will need to stand back from the pulley.

For attachment to weight plates, loading pins, or dumbells, we provide a welded, zinc-plated chain for positive attachment. This is better than using other means like straps because you can adjust the active chain length to the size / number of items being used as a weight plate. We also provide loading pins for 1” and 2” plates. For this option, you can purchase the FP-3.1 and either the FP-7.1 or the FP-7.2 pin, and either purchase the HG-1 Handles, or provide your own handles. You can also choose between our FP-5.2 or FP-5.3 Triceps Rope products. The 5.2 has cylindrical grips, and the 5.3 has super-comfortable balls for grips.

Lat Pulldowns

The FitBar Lat Pulldown Cable Pulley Attachment is perfect for lat pull downs while standing, squatting, or sitting on the ground. Our Pull Up Handles are adjustable, such that the grips can be oriented inline so you can perform a close grip lat pull down, or the Pull Up Handles can be angled so you can perform wide grip lat pull downs.

Triceps Cable Pushdown

The FitBar Lat Pulldown Cable Pulley Attachment isn’t just for strengthening your lats – it is great for triceps cable pushdowns. While standing and with the Pull Up Handles oriented inline with each other, you can easily perform a triceps push down. You can perform the push down while squatting or kneeling to get more leverage. You can also emulate a triceps rope pushdown using our Minicanes or Nunchuck grips, or just connecting a triceps rope to the cable pulley spring clip.

Seated Cable Row Alternative

The FitBar Lat Pulldown Cable Pulley Attachment provides for an awesome seated cable row alternative. There are two main options: a standing cable row and half kneeling cable row. The standing cable row is the closest alternative to the seated cable row, however, it will become more difficult for your lower body to hold you in position as you increase weight. This can be performed as a single-hand cable row or a two-hand cable row, however, we recommend a single-hand row. A half-kneeling single-hand cable row is probably the best option as alternative to the seated cable row: half-kneeling allows you to easily react the load from the weight plates with your lower body, so you can perform AMRAPs (as many reps as possible) and go to arm failure.

These are just a couple of different exercise options for using the FitBar Lat Pull Down Cable Pulley. You can purchase a second cable pulley so you can perform seated cable rows, cable machine curls, and all the other exercises you would typically perform with a cable machine.
